VILLAGE side Ickleford had another successful weekend in the brilliant sunshine.

On Saturday they had a comprehensive victory over highly regarded North Mymms seconds in The Saracens Herts League.

Ickleford batted first and made a solid start with Sam Giggle (40) and Tom Reilly (29) putting on 77 for the first wicket.

Mark Schumann then hit a fine 47 and added 91 for the fourth wicket with Brett Blaker, who played an assured innings with controlled aggression making a superb 66.

Ickleford's innings closed on 244-8 in their 53 overs.

Blaker then took the vital wicket of Rawle who averaged over 100 last season, but could only manage seven on Saturday.

Wickets were then taken at regular intervals and Mymms were eventually all out for just 149 with Blaker taking 3-39.

Steve Munnery, Schumann and Steve Maylin took two wickets each.

In a 45 over friendly on Sunday, Ickleford comfortably beat Botany Bay.

A tight bowling display restricted Bay's scoring rate and Roy Izzard had the remarkable figures of nine overs, seven maidens taking 2-4 giving Bay's batsmen only three scoring shots.

Dan Watson took 2-13 in eight overs while Sam Giggle and Kevin Watson each picked up two wickets as Botany Bay were all out for 135.

Steve Munnery set about the Bay bowling in style and with Giggle hitting 35 the pair put on a magnificent 79 for the first wicket.

Munnery finished undefeated on 66 as Ickleford romped to victory by seven wickets with 22 overs to spare.

Playing in the East Area 2 League, Ickleford under-11s turned in a fine performance against a more experienced Broxbourne team.

Andrew Williamson and Adam and Tom Gornall had excellent games to restrict Broxbourne to 122-2. In reply, Ickleford made 93-9 with Sam Howard hitting a fine 30.

Bragbury got back to winning ways at the weekend against Elstree 2nds.

Elstree posted only 122 off of 41.3 overs after winning the toss.

Rob Steptoe, back after 10 years in Australia, bowled 17 overs and returned good figures of 3-16.

In reply, Bragbury's opening pair put on 90 for the first wicket to ensure a comfortable victory by eight wickets, with Martin Fisher (50 not out) and Paul Hitchock with his first 50 for five years the top scorers.
