Holwell look on course to win the Broadview Windows North Herts League title this season.

Baldock were well beaten by 90 runs in their latest match on Sunday.

Holwell batted first with man of the match Julian Rudder and Nigel Pointing putting on 191 for the first wicket.

Captain Rudder was caught for an excellent 99 and Pointing for 61 before wickets began to tumble.

Holwell finally closed at 253-6 off 40 overs with Bhavesh taking 3-29 and Rob Peacock 3-22.

Baldock decided to send in a pinch-hitter in the form of Logan Newman and he smashed 38 off 32 balls with three big sixes.

Adam Parkin got rid of this nuisance with a bouncer but Baldock kept the run rate brisk as Peacock scored a run-a-ball 36.

With the run rate climbing, the middle order struggled to keep up and wickets fell.

Baldock batted out the 40 overs to end up on 163-6, new boy Dixon taking 3-25 in eight overs.

Graveley won by six wickets against Ickleford Cricketers in Division Two.

Cricketers batted first and were indebted to opener Ian Cousins who grafted hard for his 69, as well as a quickfire 25 from Jon Hare.

Cricketers still collapsed to 153 all out with Noddy Logan taking four wickets for just four runs for Graveley.

Graveley took their time in overtaking the target, with Hare taking two wickets.

n Preston seconds entertained their Berkhamsted counterparts in the Chess Valley League on Sunday in a reduced 40 overs-a-side match.

The visitors posted 198 all out, Guy Christopher Preston's top bowler with 4-46 in his nine overs.

In reply, Simon Luxton and Dave Saunders put on 30 for the first wicket but then only Andy Halsey with 19 bettered their scores as Preston succumbed to 102 all out.

n Letchworth Corinthians lost by five wickets to Whitwell on Sunday.

The visitors were asked to make first use of a fairly wet wicket and made just 136-8 from their 40 overs, opener Paul Williams top scoring with 54.

In reply Whitwell lost an early wicket but a fine second wicket stand of 74 between Anthony Wallis (58) and Julian Priestley put the home side in a great position.

Whitwell went on to win with more than five overs remaining, Richard Cropley taking 3-28 for the Corinthians.
