Letchworth Hockey Club sent a weakened men's veterans' side to Shefford and Sandy's President's Day.

But they still gave a good account of themselves in a 4-2 defeat (Jack Fraser and Gary Pond scoring) before falling to two goals in quick succession in the second half.

All four ladies' teams struggled in their divisions this season.

The first XI were eighth in the East League Premier Division.

Their seconds finished second from bottom in the Five Counties League Premier Division and will be relegated to Division One.

The third XI finished sixth in Division Two of the Five Counties League and the fourths were eighth in Division Four and will be relegated to Division Five.

It was also a mixed season for the men's teams.

The first XI finished fifth in Division Two South, just behind Blueharts 2nds but ahead of Stevenage first team.

Their last game of the season was against Daventry and they won 2-0 in a comfortable friendly victory.

The seconds will be relegated to Division Three South West after being bottom of Division Two South, while the third XI finished mid-table in Division Five South West.

There was better news for the fourth team as they finished runners-up in Division Six South West and will be promoted to Division Five, playing in the same division as their third XI.

The fifth XI were third from bottom in Division Seven South West and will be relegated to Division Eight and the sixth XI finished mid-table in Division Nine South West.

Letchworth's mixed side narrowly lost 1-0 to Holcombe in the England HA Plate competition.

The under-nine juniors had a successful end of season tournament at Broxbourne. They played six games, winning five and drawing one, without conceding a goal to convincingly win their age group.

Letchworth amassed 21 points from a possible 24 with runners-up Broxbourne Badgers on 15 points.
