Kane Smith is currently on trial at West Brom while Bristol City are also keen to have a closer look at the player.
The 19-year-old defender was picked up by the Baggies after playing in Hitchin Town’s 2-1 win over Bedworth United on Tuesday evening ahead of a three-day trial with the Premier League club.
The right-back has recently been on trial at Crystal Palace, where he played in a number of U21 matches, while a number of Football League clubs including Bristol City have informed the Canaries of their interest.
Hitchin boss Mark Burke believes the defender is unlikely to still be at the club come the end of January, but believes the added attention has not got to the player.
Burke said: “He’s handled it really well. He’s just carried on playing the way he did at the start of the season; it hasn’t gone to his head.
“He’s still the same Kane and we are seeing this as extra training for him!”
Burke says that although the Crystal Palace U21 management are keen on the youngster, others at the club think he’s not ready for the first team yet.
“Well if he’s ready for the first team I want £2-3 million for him. That’s what Premier League full-backs go for, isn’t it?” joked Burke.
“If they do a little work on him he might be [ready].”
