HITCHIN faced a challenging opening game on Saturday against Hemel Hempsted whom they faced in last season's Herts President's Trophy Final.

Hemel's continued pressure saw the Hitchin defence begin to fade and they opened up a lead. The battle started to take its toll on the Hitchin team and several players started to take injuries.

However, they continued to fight on and made their way into Hemel territory but were unable to put points on the board until the second half when good line out ball saw Hitchin plough up the centre of the pitch and then quickly move the ball wide for a foot race between James Larman and the Hemel wing to the corner.

Hitchin will have to improve on their performance against Barnet Elizabethans at home on Saturday.
