Fly fishing is still going well during the cooler parts of the day on the Trout (Damsel) Lake at the Manor Farm fishery at Lower Caldecote near Biggleswade.

This is when many fish have been taken off the surface on daddies. Buzzers, GRHE and damsels are also good.

The heat of the day requires different tactics, fishing deep on montanas with sinking lines.

Fly fishing will only be available on this lake to June 30 and will resume from September 1.

During July and August, coarse and match anglers will be allowed to use this lake, where they catch some fantastic roach, bream and tench.

The last week has seen the specimen carp continue with spawning and sunbathing. Despite this, some good fish have been caught generally around the margins during the cooler times.

Trevor Francis of Sandy landed a 20lb mirror from the Becks Lake using his beach casting method with floating pellet.

Danny Plummer also bagged a 15lb and 17lb carp from the same lake on tutti fruitie popup corn. Fruit flavours and sweetcorn with method mix seem to be the best baits on this lake at present.

As for the Carp Lake, many fish are being taken on floating pellet but Mark Mansfield landed a 25 pounder on A&M crab boilies. Winters Lake saw Mr Allum land three lumps all commons - 32lb 4oz, 28lb and 26lb. Fish flavoured boilies seem to be working well here.

Richard Bennett of Biggleswade also caught a 22lb 2oz mirror and a 16lb linear carp on Pulse boilies from Winters Lake.

Night fishing is available on the Carp, Becks and Winters Lakes but must be booked in advance on 01767 317835.

Mixed and pleasure fishing on the Blunham Lake has seen an addition of some new small carp (1lb-4lb) from the stock ponds.

These fish certainly livened things up, with Bob Steel of Stevenage landing 65lb of small carp and 15lb of roach using size 18 hooks and 2.5lb bottom fished a rod length's out. The baits he recommends are strawberry pellet and corn, with plenty of loose feed.

The Canal continues catching extremely well particularly suiting junior and novice anglers keen to get their first bite.

Best method is float fished maggot or pellet with loose feed.

This weekend The Canal is booked for a match on Saturday and a small 10 peg match on Sunday. Day tickets are available at other times and there will be about 10 pegs available for this Sunday.

P The Greensands Fishery near Sandy has seen pleasure anglers having some brilliant catches this week.

They have enjoyed good bags of carp with the best methods being sweetcorn and 4mm pellet.

Pleasure angler Wayne Hill had a good day's fishing with a net of small carp for a total weight of 30lb plus.

The Thursday evening open was won by P Worrell of Stevenage with 27-1-0, second was Carl Sumners (Greensands) with 16-11-0, and in third place was fishery owner Chris Rose with 12-12-0.

Sunday's open saw temperatures reaching 30 degrees but despite this the fish continued to feed well and produced some close weights.

Worrell again took first place with a winning weight of 30-11-0, closely followed by Danny Fung with 28-6-0 and third place went to Carl Sumners (Greensands) with 20-0-0.
