BLUEHARTS produced another fine display of hockey to defeat Chelmsford seconds 5-1 at home.

This sees them move up to joint third in Premier A and they will be looking for further points when they travel to bottom of the league West Herts this Saturday.

Harts dominated from the pushback and it did not take long before they had gone one up.

John Sapsed got on the end of a great through ball before beating two players and slamming the ball past the keeper.

More continual pressure resulted in a penalty stroke which John Barrett, for the second week in a row, expertly converted.

Chelmsford scored a fortuitous breakaway goal which came from a combination of a bad pass and some seriously bad marking.

Harts went into the break 2-1 up and confident they could score more goals.

Manager Malcolm Miller made some great tactical changes and it was not long before Jimmy Lewis found himself on the scoresheet latching on to a great cross and putting the ball hard into the corner.

Lewis turned provider when at the next short corner he set skipper Oliver Hammond to finish from close range.

Harts got their fifth five minutes from time when Adam Wells followed in well to slot the ball past the stranded goalie.

There was an excellent weekend of results for Letchworth.

None of their sides were beaten and the first team enjoyed a 1-0 win over Blueharts seconds thanks to a Robbie Balsom goal.

Other scores: Welwyn 2 Letchworth II 5; Letchworth III 3 Berkhamsted II 2; Letchworth IV 3 Welwyn II 1; Rickmansworth IV 0 Letchworth V 3 (game awarded to Letchworth); Letchworth VI 0 West Herts VI 0.

Stevenage suffered a disappointing 4-2 defeat to league leaders Vauxhall to leave them in the bottom half of the table.

Vauxhall took an early lead when the home defence went to sleep.

Within five minutes, Jon Oliver scored an equaliser, smashing the ball home from the edge of the penalty area.

Stevenage controlled the whole of the half with good chances falling to Ben Oliver, Danny Blackburn and Ollie Holt.

They took the lead just before half time when Rob Brown found skipper Blackburn who fired the ball into the net with a precise finish. In the second half Vauxhall upped the tempo, scoring their second and third goals in quick succession.

As Stevenage pushed for the equaliser, gaps were left at the back and late on an unmarked Vauxhall forward was left one-on-one with a helpless Tim Dingley who had no chance of preventing a fourth.

Other scores: Bishop's Stortford III 6 Stevenage II 2 (Scott Reid, Nick Crocker); Stevenage III 3 Cheshunt II 2; Vauxhall II 1 Stevenage IV 1 (Ian Brown); Stevenage V 4 Broxbourne VII 5; Bishop's Stortford VI 3 Stevenage VI 1 (Scott Davies).

MBDA were beaten 3-1 by Welwyn Garden City thirds - an unsatisfactory result for the hosts.

Welwyn went ahead after just 45 seconds with a shot from the left edge of the D.

Spurred into action, MBDA fought back and managed to grab an equaliser later in the half, which was scored by Jeremy Turner, his first for the season.

MBDA went in search of another goal but it was Welwyn who added two more in the second half.
