The Hitchin Sunday Football League

There were goals galore in the Premier Division of the Hitchin Sunday League as the top two both secured maximum points despite one or two scares along the way.

Red Star ICL won an 11-goal thriller against The George Hitchin, Phil Robertson scoring the decisive goal with just eight minutes left on the clock.

Earlier goals from Ross Pateman (hat-trick) and James Campbell (two) had left the game tantalisingly poised at 5-5.

Cannon scored twice in the final 10 minutes to beat Engineers Henlow 5-3. Missing the poorly Neil Smith, it was left to Jack Gregson (two), Simon Umney, Harry Holland and Luke Purchase to net the vital goals.

Steve Winch (two) and a piledriver from Eddie Fannon had given the Engineers hope of nicking an unexpected point until Cannon's late double salvo.

HTS Barleycorn and AC Malone shared eight goals at Ransomes. Simon Flecknall, Jody Jordan (two) and John Bonner-May scored for Malone, whilst Kevin Burness, Chris Powell (two) and Greg King netted for the hosts.

In Division One, AEK Letchworth enjoyed a 3-0 home success against SMU, Matt Wilson scored a double and Micky Smith continued his goalscoring run.

HTS Barleycorn Res (Conn Warwicker) were beaten 2-1 at home to Kcinsatop Res who now head the table.

Offley Parish lost 3-2 at home to Whitwell Res, and Ocean's Eleven also tasted defeat as they were beaten 3-1 in both games by Crown Stotfold in a double header.

Broadmead kept up their own promotion hopes with a 4-1 success at home to Wanderers Res. Steven Young scored the perfect treble as he scored with his left and right foot as well as a well-taken header, Ian Bell netted the other.

AC Malone lost out in both games as they played Dynamo Letchworth in a double header.

The first game finished 1-0 while Simon Flecknall, who raced across from his first team encounter, could not stop Dynamo winning with goals from Ben Pemberton and Richard Kirchin in the second game which ended 2-1.

The Park recorded the highest score of the season so far as they defeated The Five Bells 17-0.

Steven Monaghan scored eight and there were hat-tricks for Grant Kellor and Jamie Bocking, while Gary Downing, Aaron Harvey and Liam Duguid also found the target.

Baldock Sunday secured maximum points from their double header with Radcliffe Arms.

The opening encounter ended 3-1, Louis Healiss netting twice, while Darren Carr scored the other and Daniel Sears replied. The other match ended 2-0, Healiss scoring both.

In the Premier Division Cup semi-final, PJ Hitchin kept up their impressive record in divisional cups as they made it to the final after a 3-0 victory against Bar Absolute. Adie Turner notched twice and Dorian Small added the other.

And Dynamo Letchworth also enjoyed a victory on Friday night, beating The Five Bells 6-0.
