The Riverain Indoor Bowls Club in Hitchin staged an RNLI Gala day.

First prize went to the team of Bernie Drummond, John O'Dell and skip Dave Betts who won three games with a shot difference of 26. Runners-up were Jackie Milton, Maureen George and skip Paul Bryant who also won three games with a shot difference of 16.

Riverain also held its own club championships recently.

Ladies' singles: Shirley Hughes bt Joan Welch 21-8. Men's singles: Tony Webb bt Wynn Evans 21-14.

Men's triples: David Castle, Richard Andrews and Ian Randall bt Jim Proctor, Brian Beaumont and Bob Ashby 21-20 after an extra end.

Ladies' pairs: Shirley Hughes and Enid Newman lost 14-21 to Jean Lock and Joyce Rolph. Men's pairs: Ian Randall and Richard Andrews bt Andy Hodgson and Alfie Brown 27-10.

Mixed pairs: Joan and John Welch lost 9-29 to Barbara and Dennis Eddington.

Daytime ladies' triples: Hazel Wing, Sue Wingham and Dilys Hanson lost 14-21 to Jean Lock, Joyce Rolph and Noreen Gazely.

Daytime mixed fours: Jean Lock, John Fabris, Jim Amies and Angie Fabris lost 13-21 to Joyce Rolph, June Mills, Tony Rolph and Brian Mills.

Daytime men's triples: Colin Izzard, Dennis Eddington and Viv Mountney lost 12-15 to Terry Ware, Don Edwards and Tony Bacon. Daytime mixed pairs: Jean Lock and Jim Amies bt Shay Mumford and Alan Warren 20-19.
