Letchworth GC Eagles beat Chipperfield Corinthians 2-1 thanks to goals from Sam Gittings and Ricky Young.

The victory sees Letchworth move to the top of the Herts Senior County League Premier Division table.

Chipperfield had much the better of the first half and they deservedly went into half-time 1-0 ahead with a well-worked goal following constant pressure on the Eagles goal.

Letchworth were fortunate not to face a larger deficit and had keeper Dan Goad to thank for saving a penalty.

He also pulled off several excellent saves to keep the visitors in the game.

The second half was a different story as Eagles began to find their feet and composure.

Sam Gittings led the revival when he volleyed in a corner at the far post, and it looked as if the match was heading for a draw despite one-way traffic towards the home goal for the last 15 minutes of the game.

Then the pressure paid off when, in the last minute of injury time, Young smashed a shot into the top corner from the edge of the area and Eagles went home with all the points.
