Finals day of the Stevenage and District Primary Schools' Football Association was a tense affair.

For the first time, the boys' cup and girls' league finals were held on the same afternoon.

An exciting and close girls' game saw Lodge Farm and Codicote finish 1-1 after extra time.

The dreaded penalty shoot-out could not separate them after the five spot-kicks but Lodge Farm prevailed 4-3 in the sudden death contest.

It was heartbreaking for Codicote who also lost last season's final.

This was Lodge Farm's second triumph in the competition having also won it in 2000.

Their scorer in the final, Jade Horsley, was also presented with the Girls' Golden Boot award for being the leading scorer in the league.

Codicote also appeared in the boys' cup final for the first time and met Martins Wood.

Although going behind to an early goal, Codicote turned out worthy winners by 4-1 with Alex Davey scoring a hat-trick.

This took his season's tally to 26 which is an all-time record.

Their win meant Codicote became the ninth different winner of the cup in the last nine seasons.

During the course of the afternoon, the championship shields and medals were presented to Featherstone Wood, Codicote and Longmeadow, winners of the Supreme, Premier and Junior Divisions respectively.

Runners-up medals went to Longmeadow, Trotts Hill and Giles.

After only being promoted two seasons ago, Featherstone Wood won the league by six clear points.

Codicote, after achieving a double and remaining unbeaten, are promoted to the top flight.

Longmeadow regained their Junior title in the closest ever finish to a league season. The last week of the season started with four sides level at the top with the same number of points.

The Golden Boot awards in the three divisions were won by Mitchell Miller, Alex Davey and Tyler Kilcullen.
