Trio make quarters

THREE North Herts League clubs have reached the quarter-finals of the Herts Junior Cup. Premier Division leaders St Ippolyts were made to fight all the way against Berkhamsted Sports, winning 9-8 on penalties after the clubs had drawn 2-2 after extra time
THREE North Herts League clubs have reached the quarter-finals of the Herts Junior Cup.
Premier Division leaders St Ippolyts were made to fight all the way against Berkhamsted Sports, winning 9-8 on penalties after the clubs had drawn 2-2 after extra time. Anthony Atherley and Ryan Foster had scored the Saints goals.
Kimpton Rovers are the surprise packet. Sitting at the bottom of the Premier with only one win, they also progressed to the last eight, beating Hadley A 4-1.
A couple for leading scorer Craig Barnes and further goals from Sam Gibbs and Andrew Reeves moved them into the last eight.
First Division side Wilbury Wanderers were the other side to progress when they won 4-3 at Much Hadham.
They were leading 2-0 at half time, playing down the slope, with goals from Dean Smith and Richard Pearson. Shortly after half time, they went 3-0 up when Smith scored again.
Wilbury then came under a lot of pressure and Much Hadham pulled the score back to 3-3. Then from a breakaway Smith completed his hat-trick, while a fantastic save by Neil Kitchener prevented the game going into extra time.
First Division Magnum went out 3-1 to FC Cornerstone where they missed several chances to win. Their solitary goal came from Lee Gibbs.
Quarter-final draw: Badger Athletic v FC Cornerstone, Kimpton Rovers v Park Street Village, Mill End Sports v St Ippolyts, Wilbury Wanderers v Bengeo Trinity.
In the Premier Division Cup, Woolmer Green crushed Baldock by 9-1. Hat-tricks from James Brewster and Wayne Campbell led the way. Other goals came from Oliver Rice, Darren Wilson and Tom Younger, while Baldock's consolation came from Lee Harman.
Baldock Res made up for the first team's defeat by beating Bedwell Rangers Res 3-1 in the First Division Cup second round.
Their goals were from Nick Blenkin, Adam Shelley and James Smith. Bedwell replied through Ross Gittings.
The only Premier Division league game saw Roger Clarke inspire Whitwell Village to come back from 5-2 down to share the spoils with Bedwell Rangers by scoring four goals. Whitwell's other goal came from Nathan Grinstead.
A hat-trick for John Johnston and further goals from Shaun McDermott and Grant Sullivan had given Bedwell a comfortable lead.
AFC Santos crushed bottom side Cricketers Weston 12-2 despite going 2-1 down early in the first half. AFC Santos recovered to go in at half time 5-2 up.
The second half was one-way traffic with Santos scoring another seven without reply. Nuno Canteiro led the way by scoring four.
There were braces for Matt Arlick and Calvin Crook. Other goals came from Chris Burniston, Mitch Crook, Martin Farrer and Nick Flory.
Cricketers' goals came from Deane Cooper and Dean Hauser.
The other game saw nine goals as Fairlands defeated Kimpton Rovers Res 7-2.
Fairlands leading scorer Kenny Liggett led the way by scoring four. Kevin Liggett scored the goal of the game by scoring from his own half and further goals came from Jason Haze and Ricky Lawrance. Kimpton replied through Ricky McCullagh and Dave Gooch.
