Stevenage have landed another summer signing, the highly-rated midfielder Donovan Makoma from Barrow.

The 19-year-old French teenager is believed to have put pen to paper a one year deal with an option for a further twelve months.

The talented teen expressed his delight at being the latest player to join the Maamria revolution at Broadhall Way.

Speaking to the official Stevenage FC website he said: “I am very happy to be here and join this club. It is a great team and a great opportunity for me to play my football in the league.

“I would like to thank the manager, chairman and everyone who has helped support me.”

Maamria, who has guided his team through an impressive pre-season on and off the pitch after a series of excellent performances – most notbaly the victories over League One sides Portsmouth and Coventry City at the Lamex – has been impressed by the youngster during a trial spell.

Tapping into his extensive knowledge of non-league football, Maamria said: “I saw him last season for Barrow and he ran the show from midfield in terms of his athleticism, composure on the ball and work rate.

“This summer I had the opportunity to bring him down and we had a good look at him throughout pre-season. He is a huge asset for the future and has all the attributes to be a top player.

“We hope he will be pushing the first team right away but he is certainly somebody with a big future at the club.”

Stevenage host a Watford XI at the Lamex on Friday evening. See the official Boro website for more information on tickets.
