Stevenage's highly anticipated FA Cup third-round game against Reading on Saturday will be the last opportunity for supporters to stand on the North Terrace.

Demolition work will start next week in the first step of the long-awaited redevelopment of the North Stand.

Boro fans raised more than £600,000 through the unique mini-bonds scheme last summer – the first of its type in the UK – to help the club fund the redevelopment.

The 1,428-capacity stand is “on schedule and a new North Stand in 2018/2019 is becoming a reality”, the club said in a statement.

Due to the financially sensitive nature of the tender process, the total cost of the new North Stand has yet to be revealed.

All North Terrace season ticket holders will be contacted soon with alternative seating or standing options for the remainder of the season, while a temporary wheelchair section will be housed in the south corner of the West Stand.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are available at cheaper, in-advance prices from borotickets.co.uk, the club shop or over the phone on 01438 223223.
