Darren Sarll says he 'wants to win' against Brighton under-twenty-ones in the Checkadale Trophy tonight, despite Stevenage being out of the competition. Speaking ahead of the match, Sarll said: 'We obviously can't progress, but we've got to respect the fact that Brighton are coming to town - they're Premier League opposition.

‘We’ll do what’s right for Stevenage and pick a team that can do themselves justice on the evening’ he insisted. You can’t just be willy-nilly and throw in the youngsters because you don’t know who you’re playing. Are you playing another League Two side? Are they going to be strong? Are you playing a Premier League side? Are they going to be young? You’ve got to try and weigh up all the factors.

Sarll continued: ‘It’s a game that we want to try and win, and I have to select the right team. If we select young players and Brighton pick some experienced Premier League players then it’s going to be an awful experience for our young players. It’s a very fine line and we’ll do our best to get it right.’
