Stevenage hosted Lincoln City at the Lamex in League Two on Saturday.
Dino Maamria’s side lost 1-0 at home Lincoln City after a John Akinde’s penalty proved sealed the victory for Danny Cowley’s side.
The Imps had drawn their previous last two league games, but the Sincil Bank-outfit hell on to clinch all three points.
Despite Boro keeper Seny Dieng diving the right way, Akinde slotted home in the 11th minute.
The striker nearly doubled the score after 30 minutes but shot into the side netting.
Lincoln keeper Grant Smith was in fine form after making a string of excellent saves to deny Maamria’s men including a diving effort to keep out Ben Kennedy’s free-kick.
Stevenage created openings, most notbably when Danny Newton missed a chance on the hour mark after shooting over the bar.
With the clock ticking down Smith kept out Scott Cuthbert’s header after the former Luton Town captain headed at the target in a crowded box while Joel Byrom’s free-kick was tipped over as Lincoln saw out the game.
