everything ‘out there’. We know the satisfaction which comes from a hard-fought victory, we know the camaraderie generated in the tired but victorious winners dressing room afterwards.

We also know the hard work volunteers, mums and dads, grandparents and pals put in behind the scenes to ensure everything runs as smoothly as it can off the pitch. individual, a group, a team – who fits the bill then get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.

To paraphrase a famous quote: ‘Sport is the most important of least important things’ - and it’s an ethos we live by at CometSport.

Because sport teaches you the value of team-work. Of loyalty, of respect – for yourself, the game, your colleagues and opponents. But most of all sport is about fun and enjoying yourself – and when the time comes celebrating wonderful victories, and people and teams.

To that end CometSport is asking for your help in nominating those in North Herts sport who are deserving of being honoured for the Comet Sports Awards.

We’ve already got sponsors on board including Stevenage FC Foundation, Stevenage Borough Council and Redwood Bank but if you’re interested in being associated with this event – or if you want to nominate someone for an award then email Sophie.Watts@archant.co.uk.

Among the categories are Young Team of the Year, Service to Sport, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year, Youth Achievement (Girls), Youth Achievement (Boys), Veteran Achievement, Team of the Year, School of the Year, Paul Pearce Disability Award, Sports Personality of the Year and Sports Photograph of the Year.

The best stories will also be featured in these pages.
