Baldock Town's footballers reached a cup final for the second successive Saturday.

The Reds needed extra time to win 2-1 at London Colney A in the Benevolent Shield semi-finals of the North and Mid Herts Football League.

County cup finalists Baldock won after the initial pitch was declared unplayable and the tie switched to Parmiters School in Garston.

Baldock were without influential skipper Lee Buck and wide player Michael Masters as Lee Rusbridge became the first player to play 100 matches for the club and he captained the side in Buck's absence.

The hosts got their noses in front early on when Mark Nunn was robbed of possession on the halfway line. A quick pass put in a Colney forward and he made no mistake.

Baldock began to regain their composure and create some decent chances but it took until the 35th minute to draw level. Harry Holland crossed for Lewis Wilsher who glanced in a header at the near post for his eighth goal of the season.

Nunn nearly grabbed a winner in the 89th minute.

A neat one-two between Nunn and Rusbridge down the right saw the latter cross and after the keeper fumbled, Nunn rounded the keeper and then somehow blazed wide.

The tie went to extra time and after a goalless first period, it finally became Nunn's day when he put Baldock ahead in the 112th minute.

Colney could only half clear from a corner, the ball was helped back in and Nunn toe-poked past the keeper to grab a winner when it seemed the tie was destined for spot-kicks. Their final opponents will be St Ippolyts.

In the league's Premier Division, there were wins for St Ippolyts (over Whitwell Village) and Woolmer Green but a heavy defeat for Magnum.

In Division One North, AFC Santos, Codicote, Fairlands (by default) and Wilbury Wanderers won their respective games.
