THERE was little joy for teams from Comet country in the FA Cup at the weekend with Arlesey Town going down 4-0 at Hendon, while Potton United were hit for six in a 6-1 drubbing at Heybridge , substitute Mark Bryant netting for United after half-time.

Hitchin Town have made a promising start to their British Gas Business Premier League campaign but were held to a 1-1 home draw by Eastern Counties Division One side Saffron Walden Town. Hitchin carved out a number of chances but had to wait until six minutes from time before taking the lead through Chris Dillon. But Dean Godden scrambled an equaliser three minutes later to force a replay at Saffron Walden on Wednesday evening.

In the Molten Spartan South Midlands League, Langford Town continue to surprise in the Premier Division. A second half-half double from Wes Byrne gave them a 3-1 at St Margaretsbury which takes them joint top of the table. Lee Pateman's scored Langford's opener. Biggleswade United went down 3-1 at London Colney and in Division One Arlesey Athletic crashed 4-1 at home to Brache Sparta.

A goal from Ian Thorne earned Stotfold a 1-1 draw at Holbeach United in the Eagle Bitter United Counties League Premier Division.
