Hitchin Town hosted Leatherhead in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup at grand old Top Field on Saturday. Read on for Layth Yousif’s PLAYER RATINGS

Hitchin Town:

Michael Johnson: 8 - The highly-rated keeper showed excellent reflexes to tip over Travis Gregory’s shot late in the first half but could not do much about the Tanner’s striker’s goal early in the second half

Alex Anderson: 7 - Received an elbow in the fact for his troubles from Shaun Okojie – prompting many to question the consistency of the man in black, a certain Mr Gardner, after he showed a straight red to Jay Dowie off for a high challenge 17 minutes earlier.

Noah Chesman: 7 - Worked hard throughout

Matt Spring: 7 - Every team needs a Matt Spring. Experienced, tough and tenacious, he battled all afternoon.

Lewis Ferrell: 7 - Another who showed true spirt throughout

Josh Bickerstaff: 8 - Captain fantastic. No cooler head in a bumper crowd of 1,278 than the Canaries impressive leader as he slotted home his 57th minute penalty to equalise – much to the delight of the bumper attendance at Top Field

Scott Belgrove: 6.5 - Replaced by Charlie Smith early in the second half.

Jay Dowie: 5 - It’s easy to condemn but the Canaries No8 but he lad deserves sympathy rather than reproach. Yes, his foot was high. But did Tanners captain Elliot Benyon really have to milk the moment for all it was worth. Yes, is the answer, even if it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth

Ezra Forde: 7 - A powerful presence. Held the ball up well with his back to goal.

Isaac Galliford: 7 - Worked hard even if he wasn’t as influential as he would have liked to have been

Jack Green: 7.5 - A nuisance to the Tanners backline all afternoon and won the penalty after left-back Thomas Cooney fouled him on 57 minutes

Charlie Smith: Replaced Belgrove midway through the second half

Zaki Oualah: 7

Crossley Lema: 7

Thomas Cooney: 6

D’Sean Theobalds: 6.5

William Salmon: 6.5

Jerry Nnamani: 6.5

Robert Cullen: 6.5

Travis Gregory: 7.5
