The opposition then pulled back a breakaway goal but before half time Belles were back on top with two goals from Daisy M – one the product of lovely interplay with Maddie W. – with the other from a great pass from player of the match Martha W.
In the second half Risden conceded an unlucky own goal when a Kirsty M. long throw into the box was touched in by the keeper. But the Belles did not have it all their own way and Izzy H. came to the rescue in defence with many crunching tackles. Towards the end of the game Freya S. scored twice. Fr her first she stole the ball from the defence with some fancy footwork, while clinically knocking in Laila A’s corner for the second.

Hitchin Belles U12`s Blues
A grey day for the Belles U12 who played against Ware Rangers on Saturday on a drizzly and windy morning in Ware. The Belles were expecting a tough cup game against The Rangers as they are two divisions higher in the league. The Belles were determined to keep working hard no matter what and kept their heads held high even when a couple of early goals were scored by The Rangers. Lori Albanese made several excellent saves for Belles in the first half and Kelci Andrews ensured that more goals were prevented with her strong defence and encouragement of others. Melody Smith put in a confident performance and consistently pushed the ball forward for Belles, making her player of the match. Phoebe de Santis was Goalkeeper for the second half and made many great saves and kept working hard even when Rangers got a few goals in. Lola Mellor and Aria Clarke were stronger in the second half and progressed the ball much further down the field towards their goal.
