Baldock Town are through to the final of the Herts Junior Cup.

The North and Mid Herts Football League side beat Greenbury United 2-1 in the semis on Saturday.

Cameron Brawley made the first and then coolly tucked away a spot-kick 16 minutes from time as they came from behind in front of a crowd of almost 150 against the Hertford and District side.

The young midfielder put in a man of the match display to help his team book a Good Friday final date with Kings Sports at the County Ground in Letchworth GC (3pm ko).

Reds attacked down 'the Slope' in the first period and Mark Nunn rattled the bar on 35 minutes with a free-kick from the edge of the box.

Greenbury took the lead two minutes after the break with an unstoppable low drive past the keeper from 25 yards.

Baldock's response though was immediate as Brawley burst through the Greenbury defence before unselfishly squaring for the unmarked Nunn to fire the leveller.

The equaliser seemed to spark the Reds into life and Lee Rusbridge went close before strong penalty appeals for handball were waved away.

But the Reds were awarded a penalty when a visiting defender was adjudged to handled in the box.

Brawley stepped up and placed the ball in the right corner to give Baldock a deserved lead.

Greenbury nearly sent the match into extra time when a cross from the left saw the keeper fumble into the path of a forward but somehow the ball went wide and Baldock secured the first of a possible three cup finals.

In the second round of the North and Mid Herts League's Greg Cup, Codicote needed extra time to knock out AFC Santos by the odd goal in five.

Woolmer Green won a penalty shoot-out against St Ippolyts after the sides were deadlocked after extra time. Parity had been ensured due to an own goal and Danny John's effort.

In the Premier Division, Magnum beat Redbourn 2-1 thanks to Jamal and Trevor Long.

Wayne Mullooly scored all three for Whitwell Village in their 3-3 draw against Kings Sports Res.

In Division One North, Bedwell Rangers Res were beaten 7-4 at home by Fairlands.

Steven Till, Ben Woolmer, Scott Pateman and an own goal made up the tally for the losing side, while there were two apiece for Dave Holmes, Lewis Littlechild and Carl Lingwood plus one for Michael Beaton for Fairlands.
