Sunday saw the start of the George John Cup.
In the first round Wymondley Park Old Boys from Division Three lost 2-1 at home against FC Templars from Division Two.
Division Three side GSS hosted Ashwell from Division Two and it was the visitors who went through thanks to a 3-0 score line.
Fairfield Park from Division Three had a tough tie at home against Division One side Arlesey Town Sunday.
Arlesey found the going easy and sailed through with a 6-0 victory.
Baldock Templars from Division One comfortably won their away game against Division Two side Arlesey Town coming out 8-3 winners.
AC Malone faced fellow Division Three side Hitchin AB in what turned out to be a one sided affair as the hosts went through to the next round thanks to a 5-0 win.
Stotfold Lions from Division Three were at home against MBDA from Division Two. It was MBDA that came out on top and enjoying their first success of a tough season with a 2-0 win thanks to strikes from second-half substitutes Nertil Halili and Matt Bachini.
There was a top-tier clash between Jagerbombers and Stevenage Athletic in which the visitors were never really troubled as they won 6-0.
Kimpton from Division Three were at home against FC Hitchin also from Division Three.
Hitchin won through to the second round following their 5-2 victory.
In the second round of the same competition Division Two side Engineers Arms were at home against the third tier’s top side Two Chimneys who kept their unbeaten start to the season going with a 4-0 win.
Division Two side Old Red Lion roared through to the next round as they won their home game against Almond Tree from Division Three by a 6-0 scoreline.
In the league there were only a handful of games played due to most teams competing in the cup.
In Division One Nirankari were at home against FC Kings. A 3-1 win for Nirankari moved them up to second in the table. Pig and Whistle lost 3-1 at home against Garden City Galaxy. Getting the goals for Galaxy were Ben Scott, Cameron Brawley and Marvin Miller.
In Division Two Crown Stotfold were at home against St Ippolyts United and the game saw both teams pick up a point each following their 2-2 draw. MKS Carpentry moved to the top of the table following their 4-3 win against Dun Cow.
The only game played in Division Three saw The Half Moon continue their fine start to the season and moved into second place in the table courtesy of a comfortable 2-0 win against The Albion.
Superbly taken second half goals from Ryan Turner and Elliott Cracknell were sufficient to secure all three points, although the winning margin would have been far more convincing but for some wasteful Moon finishing and a penalty saved by the Albion keeper.
