Biggleswade FC boss Dave Northfield said his side were ‘sensational’ in FC’s 4-1 derby domination of Arlesey Town at Langford Road on Saturday.

FC strengthened their title hopes with a crushing victory over in-form Arlesey, scoring their 12 goal in two games and halting their fellow Bedfordshire side’s four game winning run.

Lorrell Smith put the visitors ahead after six minutes but a rampant second half performance saw Lee Northfield, Alex Marsh, Ryan Inskip and Justin Leavers score to put Biggleswade top of the league – as Tring Athletic fell 2-0 to Wembley.

Speaking to CometSport after the game, Northfield said: “Sometimes you come off the pitch and it’s a pleasure to know that’s your team. It was sensational.

“We finished the first-half strong and could have scored at the end. We felt they were visibly tiring and knew, provided we got the next goal, we could win.

“We kept dominating and then got the goals, which were exceptional. Arlesey are a good side but we were stronger.

“We’re in perfect position. We’re the only side in the league who play like we do and while we are beatable, I’d like to think teams have to be at their very best to beat us.”

FC’s perfect form has come at the best possible time, with back-to-back clashes with Tring Athletic ahead – the first in the FA Vase on Saturday.
