Letchworth beaten in semi-final rout

Bedwell Rangers Scorpions 7 Letchworth 2

From the start of this game it was a very competitive game with both goalkeepers making fine saves.

In the 12th minute the deadlock was finally broken when Ellie Makewell put the Scorpions in front.

Letchworth equalised in the 19th minute, but straight from the kick off a lovely run and cross from Emma Hughes led to Ellie’s second goal.

Ailish Beadle made it 3 in the 23rd minute and Ellie completed her hat-trick in the 24th to make it 4 -1 at the break.

In the second half Ellie scored again in the 43rd and 49th minute to take her tally to five, with Fern Devenish making it 7-1 on the hour after a fine looping cross by Ella-Rosa Dorken.

Letchworth never gave up and finished strongly to score their second goal five minutes from time.

Collectively this was a superb team performance by all the Scorpions players including Rosie Borcherds, Mollie Catlin, Sophie Cook,

Georgia Cooper, Jodie Headington, Paige Walkling and Scorpions’ player of the Match Maggie Jackman.

The Scorpions now meet Garston Ladies Mets in the final on March 13th at the County Ground.
