Langford Ladies suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat on Sunday to local rivals Bedford Town Belles at Herns Lane.
The Belles had the better chances before half time, with Lesley-Ann Seaman shooting wide from 10 yards and forcing Langford keeper Verity Crook to produce a great stop low down when clean through.
Level at the break, the second half produced a more even contest with both defences marshalling the forwards well.
The deadlock was broken on 70 minutes when Langford failed to deal with a bouncing ball allowing Seaman to finish.
Langford pressed for an equaliser with Laura Shearwood hitting the inside of a post and Laveena Betts shooting well from distance but unable to beat the Belles keeper.
The game became increasingly fractious as the final whistle approached, Langford's Shelley Forster, Claire Tyrell and Sophie Bailey picking up yellow cards.

Stevenage Boro Vixens had a convincing 6-2 win over Huntingdon Town Ladies.
Vixens were slow to start but soon had the luck long overdue.
A powerful shot from Kirsty Gavin was dropped by the keeper and Zoe Hammick tucked it in.
Sue Stanton fired home the second in almost identical fashion.
Huntingdon pulled one back from a free-kick but Vixens went in 3-1 at the break after a brilliant left-footed finish from Jemma Davis.
A brilliant goal from Gavin was followed by Stanton's second with a great left-footed strike.
Huntingdon scored again after a defensive mix-up before a powerful 25-yard shot from skipper Kerry Locock ended the scoring.
Hitchin Hearts worked hard for the 3-2 win over Watton Ladies in the Herts and Beds County League.
The girls went in at half time 2-1 down despite taking the lead in the opening minute.
Becky Saunders rounded off the first move of the match by slamming the ball into the net.
Despite their possession the girls could not add to the score.
Watton levelled when a high looping shot gave Mel Sayer no chance and then just before the break a low hard shot beat the keeper.
Ollie Olsson burst through and rammed the equaliser after the break.
Hitchin netted the winner when a blatant handball was penalised and Saunders scored her second of the game.
The second string of Arlesey Town Ladies were thrashed for the second week in succession, this time losing 8-1 to Kings Sports.
They had made it 2-1 when Julia Booker's cross was bundled over the line by Sarah Smith.
