The Stotfold Bowls Club duo of Michael Everitt (shown far left) and Richard Drury reached the final of the national Royal British Legion pairs.
The competition was held at Melton Mowbray and they lost to Wales in the final by six shots.
They had easily beaten the South 25-9 in the semi-finals and the North East 24-13 in the last eight.
The pair were representing the Eastern Region in the finals after first winning the Beds county title and then the regional play-offs.
