North Herts and Luton athletes teamed up for a trip to the CP Sport National Athletics Championships in Nottingham.
There were eight Paralympic athletes competing and top coaches and selectors from UK Athletics watching the young athletes carefully.
This was very different to the Disability Sport Event Nationals which was a junior event a few weeks before, competing only against young people in the same age groups.
This competition was open age groups, so local athletes, some as young as 14, were up against 20-year-old serious Beijing Paralympic medal contenders!
Undeterred, the five athletes produced outstanding performances including five national age group records, along with a gold, three silver and a bronze medal.
All five athletes have been invited back to attend talent squads throughout the winter.
This will give them expert coaching in their events specifically but also fitness programmes to keep them in great shape, along with mentoring from top British Paralympians.
Pictured are four of the fab five - Kristian Fox, Emily Fordham, Luke Allen and Taymour Hussain.
