The warm weather didn't do athletes too many favours but Fairlands Valley Spartans still had some successful outings.

While many of the 343 finishers at the Wheathampstead 10k wilted win the sunshine, Simon Fraser got round the scenic and off-road course in 38 minutes 38 seconds to finish fifth.

Zoe Jackson meanwhile ran the Met Police Battersea 10K, a race for serving or retired officers, and after three laps of the park, she came home 90th of the 239 runners but more importantly, clocking a PB of 51:08.

There was a PB for Rob Wright too at the Stevenage Parkrun, his time of 20:18 good enough for 10th place, and for Jane Wadey who clocked 31:31.

Monica and Steve Smithson headed to the Colby Parkrun near Tenby in Wales for Steve's 50th run while John Harris was sixth at Letchworth.

Daniel Sutton headed to Rutland Water but the furthest traveller seemed to be Darryl Stevens as headed to Durlston Country Park in Dorset.
