STEVE WATKINS reports

While other results went their way, Boro missed the chance to consolidate their play-off position as they were held to a goalless draw at Kidderminster on Saturday.

With the news that Barry Laker and Dannie Bulman were not going to make the start, there were recalls for Justin Gregory and Mickey Warner.

And on the bench there was a new signing in the shape of striker Robert Duffy.

The afternoon started badly when as the game kicked off, Duffy's father fell ill on the terrace.

He required treatment from paramedics for a suspected heart attack and his son left the bench and travelled to hospital with him.

The news later was that he was thankfully in a comfortable condition.

Luke Oliver found himself at the centre of the action in the two moments of note in a forgettable first half.

Oliver first rose to head goalwards from an Adam Miller free-kick and his effort was pushed on to the post by the athletic Daniel Lewis.

Then it was a goal-line clearance from the big centre-back that denied the Harriers skipper Daryl Burgess, from his towering header.

The second half saw little up turn in excitement as Boro perhaps offered Kidderminster too much respect.

The truth was that the home side looked frail and there for the taken to a side that were pushing for the play-offs.

It was not until the Harriers were down to 10 men when Burgess had tripped Jon Nurse - when he would surely have broken the deadlock - that Boro started to really chase the points.

George Boyd, uncharacteristically quiet until then, took centre stage.

First he had a well-struck volley tipped over by Lewis.

Another driven shot from the midfielder was blocked by a defender and another one saved as he mounted a seemingly single-handed crusade.

In added time, Boyd again went close, this time with a header that looped on to the roof of the net.

In the end they just ran out of time and supporters were left asking just why it had taken nearly 80 minutes before taking the game to what was a brittle-looking opposition.
