Biggleswade swimmers had a magnificent second weekend at the Beds county championships.

An amazing 34 Biggleswade age group records fell as well as four senior and five junior!

Biggleswade swimmers performed outstandingly and collected 173 personal best performances, 40 Eastern Region qualifying times and four national qualifying times.

Harriet Brettle stole the show on the Saturday by winning the 200m backstroke by half a length to gain her national qualifying time in 2:23.62.

Paul Titley matched her achievements in the corresponding boys' event to claim the senior title in a four-second personal best.

Adam Ingledew collected all golds and improved on his national qualifying times in the 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke and managed to fit in claiming his third national time of the season in the 200m freestyle (2:07.39).

On Sunday, Abigail Lavallin swam herself into the record books in the 100m individual medley, claiming a second place in the junior (15 and Under) age group despite only being 13!

The 200m backstroke proved to be one of the events of the weekend with the nine-year-old girls taking one of the many clean sweeps. In first place was Emily McConnell, second was Sophie Jones and Kimberley Stokes finished in third spot.
