Knebworth Park were victorious on Herts under-nines county finals day at Haileybury College.

Wins over Letchworth in the semis and Old Owens in the final saw a young team comprising five eight-year-olds and led by captain William Pickworth lift the trophy.

Defending a relatively low batting score against Letchworth, which included an unbeaten 15 by Daniel Cowell, they fought back to claim 12 wickets and seal the win. Notable highlights included a Luke Chapman hat-trick with the ball.

Park batted first in the final and posted a competitive total on a large playing area.

Fabulous fielding including two run outs and several good catches followed. Old Owens batted valiantly in chasing the game but were unable to deny the Park a deserved victory.

Their team was William Pickworth, Benjamin Cowell, Daniel Cowell, Max Burrows, Chad Frost Smith, Cameron Stewart, Joseph O'Gorman and Luke Chapman.

The result capped an unbelievable year for the club's colts where numbers have rocketed on the back of last season's Ashes success.
