Dave Mitchinson, third, and Adam Robertson, second, celebrate after the race.

Adam Robertson and Dave Mitchinson, riding for Contour Cycles of Stevenage, combined to achieve the club's first multiple top three race of the year on Saturday.

Racing at the Full Gas Winter Elite, category one, two and three race at the Olympic Velodrome, the pair finished second and third respectively to continue the team’s excellent start to the year.

In the hour-long race, in strong winds, Mitchinson attacked early and managed to create a small breakaway group of six which eventually lapped the field on the one-mile circuit.

Robertson chased a strong attack from a London Dynamo rider in the later stages of the race and the pair remained clear with Robertson claiming second spot.

Mitchinson was able to win the sprint from the remainder of the break to claim third.

Robertson said: “After Dave’s attack a break of six formed, we pushed our advantage and worked together. I’m happy to finish second against strong opposition.”

Mitchinson was equally pleased and added: “Adam is an exciting young talent, and it’s fantastic to be racing together and achieving podium positions for Contour Cycles. I hope we can add many more as the season progresses.”

With two of the four-strong team yet to race this season Contour Cycles are excited to have already achieved seven top 10 finishes.
