Stevenage and North Herts AC hosted their first Eastern Young Athletes League meeting of the season at their Ridlins Stadium.

There were six visiting teams and the club were third behind Basildon and Watford but beat teams from Ilford, Trent Park, Barnet and Harlow.

In the oldest age group for girls, the under-17s, Bunmi Awokoya carried her winter form into three first places in the 100m (12.7), 300m (45.2) and shot (9.30m).

Other winners in this age group were Justine Simpson (80m hurdles, 12.9), Joanne Mansell (800m, 2.20.1), Loren Scanes (discus, 22.71m) and Francesca Witney (300m B, 45.7).

Second places went to Sam McCormick, Jordan Arthur (two events), Nikki Leonard, Francesca Witney and Helen Bailey.

Jordan, Nikki, Joanne and Bunmi teamed up for second place in the 4x100m relay. Joanne, Loren and Helen also gained a third place each.

In the boys' under-17 age group, second places were by Simeon Scheuber and Richard Vickers.

Third places came from Glen Begley, Aaron Reynolds and Richard Vickers (two events each) and Josh Moss. Glen, Aaron, Richard and Josh teamed up for third place in the 4x100m relay.

The club's strongest girls' age group, the under-15s, saw wins from Chloe Vernon-Hamilton (1500m, 5.14.9), Anne Rees (high jump 1.48m), Hannah Sweetman (75m hurdles, 13.9) and Victoria Little (800m B, 2.37.5).

Second places came from Ashleigh Clarke, Julia White, Natasha Little, Anne Rees, Frances Gross, Natalie Wilcox (two B events), Hannah Sweetman, Kasey Clark, Bethan Scanes and Chloe Vernon-Hamilton.

Third places went to Ashleigh Clarke, Anne Rees, Frances Gross, and Hollie Crease.

The relay team of Ashleigh, Anne, Hannah and Natalie won their event.

The under-15 boys' age group produced one winner, Nick Stoppard, in the 80m hurdles, clocking 12.8.

Second places came from Stoppard, James Hare and Matthew Darnell and a third place from David Pickett.

The youngest group, the under-13 girls, had Laura Saxon posting two first places in the shot (7.25m) and the discus (19.32m).

Sarah Pike was second in her 800m race, Alex Gates posted three third places, Alice Rackham collected two third places and a further third place went to the relay team of Alex, Alice, Monica Hamilton and Kitty Leigh.

The under-13s, the strongest boys' age group, produced two first places from Peter De'Ath (200m B, 28.9 and long jump B, 3.79m) and one by Ben Pearson (high jump B, 1.10m).

Second placers were Billie Vernon-Hamilton (three times), Ben David, Tom Sheren and Harry Keam and Harry Williams (twice each).

Peter, Ben David, Tom and Billie then combined to win their relay race.

* Louise Shortland broke her own club record with a pole vault of 3.35m in the National Junior League meeting at Copthall Stadium, Barnet.

Other club competitors were Megan Bowles (hammer, 27m and discus, 23.78m), Laurie Pirie (high jump, 1.80m and triple jump, 12.01m), Wendy Meadows-Smith (high jump, 1.65m) and Sam Poulton (800m, 2.01.8).
