IT'S official - Holwell are again the champions of the Broadview Windows North Herts League.

The Division One title was wrapped up on Sunday as a depleted team beat Great Gaddesden by just six runs.

All-rounder Nigel Pointing was the undoubted star, making an unbeaten hundred and then taking four wickets.

The opening batsman hit 103no and shared a century opening stand with skipper Julian Rudder (46) as Holwell totalled 197-2 in their 40 overs.

Great Gaddesden made a spirited reply but fell just short in the final over. Man of the match Pointing took 4-40 off seven and a half overs.

Baldock lost by three wickets to Crawley Green Nomads in a low-scoring game.

They batted against an accurate bowling attack on a damp seaming wicket and got 122-7 off 40 overs.

Bhavesh Paun top scored with 31no and added 53 for the seventh wicket with Tim Dean (19) to rescue Baldock from a paltry score.

In reply Crawley Green off to a solid but slow start, reaching 75-1.

Baldock fought back and took wickets regularly to make the hosts work for the win as they got home by three wickets in the penultimate over. Rob Peacock took 3-20, with Logan Newman 2-20 and Dean and Alistair Jones claimed a wicket apiece.

Ickleford gained revenge for earlier in the season with a comprehensive rout of Ickleford Cricketers in a Division Two local derby.

Batting first, Ickleford scored quickly from the start with Steve Warren - playing his first game of the season - scoring a fine 77, with support from Steve Munnery (54).

The pair put on 96 for the second wicket and, along with Sam Giggle (37) and Dan Watson (46no), enabled Ickleford to make 239-4 in their 35 overs.

In reply, home skipper Giggle quickly removed dangerman Jon Hare with his spin and Cricketers crumbled to 84 all out with Henry Snowden taking 3-27.
