Gary Brown (pictured left), the 18-year-old Stevenage batsman who has scored two league centuries this season, makes his full county debut.

And there is a recall for Steve Coleman, the young Hoddesdon left-arm spinner as Herts seek their first Championship win of the campaign.

After two disappointing defeats against Northumberland and Norfolk, skipper Andy Lewis said: "It's time to take some of the Development XI with us to see what the future may hold for Herts, so we will go up there with a blend of youth and experience."

Herts team (versus Cumberland, Keswick, August 20-22): SG Cordingley (Hertford), NJ Lamb (Welwyn Garden City), AS Lewis (capt, North Mymms), DM Ward (Old Whitgiftians), BJ Frazer (Welwyn GC), AW Laraman (Welwyn GC), GR Brown (Stevenage), SP White (Welwyn GC), TE Jenkins (Knebworth Park), LMG Cooper (Potters Bar), SM Coleman (Hoddesdon).
