Royston racer Luke Mossey, is determined to return to his best when he gets on the tarmac at Assen in the Netherlands.

It was a mixed weekend for the 26-year-old in the last round of the British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park when he crashed out of race one.

He recovered in race two showing dogged determination to cross the chequered flag in seventh.

With the prospect of competing at one of his favourite circuits on Saturday and Sunday Mossey is aiming for podium positions.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider said: “We’ve enjoyed good results at the circuit in Assen in the past, as the track really suits my riding style.

“It’s the only opportunity we get in Superbikes to compete outside the UK and I always look forward to it,” said an excited Mossey, who has built some confidence back up after Oulton Park.

“I was really pleased with the last round; we qualified on the front row and it was good to be back in the mix,” he added.

Assen is known as ‘The Cathedral’ – and for good reason: it is a pilgrimage for Moto GP, World Superbike and British Superbike fans who will make the annual trip to go and witness the races at one of the most exciting circuits on the calendar.

Mossey, 26, began racing at the age of just six. By 2006 he was racing 125cc bikes and winning British and European titles. He joined the British Superbike Championship in 2015 racing for Quattro Plant Kawasaki. In his debut season he won the Riders’ Cup Trophy. In the 2016 season he reached the Showdown and came sixth overall. At the end of the season he joined the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team for the 2017 competition where he finished ninth overall, collecting a double race win at Brands Hatch Indy.

The racer is eager to keep his legion of fans happy at the circuit. “I’m determined to get on the podium before the end of this season. I know what I can do on the bike and although it’s been frustrating, I’ve got to put it behind me,” Mossey explained.

Focused on that podium finish, Mossey wants to end 2018 in the best possible way. “I have nothing to lose. I’m aiming now to be a Showdown spoiler.

“I want a trophy so I can finish the season on a high and start preparing for 2019.” he said.
