The Riverain red team lost by two shots (38-36) in the ladies' over-60s double rink to Luton.

Their two home teams of Jean Lock, Shay Mumford, Yvonne Hull and skip Gill Walker, together with Rita Newbury, Mary Cole, Mina Reid and skip Angie Fabris were beaten.

The ladies travelled to Harpenden in the county league and gained four points out of six in winning overall by five shots (42-37).

The teams of Sharon Allen, Enid Newman, Pat Goodwin and skip Shirley Hughes won 21-13 and Joan Welch, Pat Smith, Marjorie Emery and skip Barbara Eddington lost 21-24.

Riverain won by 21 shots (85-64) in the Egham Trophy first round against Herts.

The home teams of Jean Lock, Heather Stapleford, Gavin McClaren and skip Jim Allen, together with Linda O'Flanagan, Rose Castle, Mick O'Flanagan and skip Darren Hickin won 43-34.

The away teams of Mick Allen, Gill Walker, Shirley Page and skip Tony Webb together with Jenny Ralph, Mina Reid, Ian Perton and skip Martin Brackley won more clearly by 47-29.

Riverain won by 49 shots (132-83) in a midweek friendly at home to Barking.

Skips: Kath Maxwell won 23-11, Bert Rolfe won 20-16, Bert Saich won 23-11, Doug Major won 28-15, John McGowan won 22-11, Mick Judd lost 16-19.

In weekend friendly matches held at Riverain, they lost to Herts but thrashed St Neots.

Riverain went down by 33 shots (114-147) to Herts.

Skips: Peter Barritt won 21-20, Jim Baird lost 15-22, Sam Skinner lost 10-25, Doug Major drew 13-13, Ray Hughes won 20-19, John Gee lost 24-25, Ivan Izzard lost 11-23.

But they defeated St Neots by a whopping 95 shots (191-96).
