Stevenage Boro 0 Southport 1
BORO slumped to a disappointing home defeat against bottom of the table Southport on Saturday.
The home side had a reprieve when Ronnie Henry was penalised for bringing down Liam Blakeman and Carl Baker thumped his penalty against the bar.
Baker also smacked a header against an upright after the break as Boro struggled to get into their stride.
Their cause was not helped just after the hour mark when Henry conceded his second spot-kick, for bringing down Neil Robinson, and was shown a red card. Robinson sent Alan Julian the wrong way from the spot.
Ten-man Boro had chance of salvation five minutes from time when Neil Fitzhenry was penalised for handball but sub Darryn Stamp had his penalty easily saved by Steve Dickinson.
They will be looking for a major improvement when they entertain old rivals Woking on Tuesday night.
