Boris Chambon from FVS Tri was a winner for the second weekend in a row by taking the honours in the Kent based White Oak Triathlon.

The pool based sprint triathlon was over slightly longer distances than normal with a 400m swim, 27k bike and 8k run.

Although only seventh fastest on the swim, Boris took the lead on the bike and never looked back. He finished the event in 1-13:03, winning comfortably by 1:50 and an incredible 4:10 faster than third.

Three club members travelled to Leicestershire to compete in the National Middle Distance Championships hosted by The Beaver Triathlon in the grounds of Belvoir Castle.

Simon Hall was first home for the club over the hilly and windy course which was made up of a 2000m lake swim, 90k bike and 20k run. His time of 4-47:16 was good enough to secure 26th overall from more than 200 finishers and sixth in the competitive 35-39 age group.

Samantha Tophill was fifth in the 40-44 age group with 5-48:30 and Stephen Hughes finished in 6-06:15.

Dave Farthing completed the High Wycombe Half Marathon in 1-43:47. This was a season's best by more than five minutes despite the undulating course.

There was a change of scene for 25 members of North Herts Road Runners.

The intrepid athletes took on The Three Peaks Challenge and were split into six separate groups to attempt to climb and descend the three highest mountains in each of the mainland countries within 24 hours.

Having flown to Glasgow, they picked up hire cars and then made their way to Fort William to begin the challenge at Ben Nevis.

The groups started late Friday afternoon, climbed Ben Nevis and then drove overnight to Scafell Pike in the Lake District and then finally to Snowdon in North Wales.

All the groups completed the challenge with the fastest time achieved by the group containing Richard Harbon, Steve McKeown, Astrid McKeown, Clive Adams and Paula Adams.

They managed to complete the task in just over 17 hours - without breaking the speed limit on the drive between mountains!

Club spokesman Dave Ross said: "Everyone was extremely happy to have accomplished such a tough, physical challenge despite the aching limbs the following day."

Back to running and Nicky Kemp travelled to Essex for the Felsted 10k and finished in 58:19.
