Arlesey Town dropped another two points at home to Wingate and Finchley.

The first chance of the afternoon saw Luke Gregson head wide from a Paul Bloss cross.

Keeper Nick Bussey's first touch of any consequence was to pick the ball out of his own net.

A quick break saw the leggy Simon Patterson lob the ball over the stranded Bussey to give Wingate a surprise 20th minute lead.

Arlesey were struggling to find the crucial pass at this stage that would open up the visitors' defence.

And Ryan Nicholl was on hand to clear away from an open goal when Bussey had been beaten to the ball as Wingate held their lead for the remainder of the half.

A move just three minutes into the new half saw Darran Hay go down the right and his cross was sidefooted home by Ozie Foster.

At the other end, Wingate were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the area, Michael Cox receiving a caution for his challenge. Moments later, Cox headed the ball off the line as the visitors looked to regain the lead.

A rasping shot from Ellis was beaten away by Bussey as Wingate enjoyed a spell of possession.

Sub Stuart Beevor's free-kick had Ed Thompson at full stretch to palm the ball over the bar.

Then from the corner, and involving fellow sub Kaan Fehmi, he unleashed a vicious shot across the face of the goal, Cox inches away from connecting as it whistled past the post.

Arlesey were now increasing the pressure and Lee Tekell saw the keeper push his shot into the side netting.

Arms were also being raised to celebrate as keeper Thompson clawed Beevor's shot away from goal in spectacular fashion. Tekell then headed inches wide of the goal as the Blues had to be content with a point.

Blues: Bussey, Nicholl, Bloss, Tekell, Njotsa, Cox, Capone (Beevor), Gregson, Hay (Bowgett), Foster, Hammond (Fehmi).

There was a third draw on the trot for Stotfold.

But the Rokermen could have had all three points after an impressive second 45 minutes at home to Wootton.

Adey Bascombe hit the bar for Stotfold in the third minute.

But it was the visitors who took the lead when a good ball across the park found Craig Daniel on the right whose scuffed shot wrongfooted Nigel Blower on 26 minutes.

Wootton went two goals up shortly afterwards when Scot McGregor's weak shot from the edge of the box was met by the outstretched boot of Darek Jozwiak.

Player-manager Jim Benton grabbed one back with his first goal this season, meeting Paul Harrington's low ball across the face of goal at the far post.

Jason Blackett had a couple of good chances to level the scores before the break, denied by visiting keeper Mat Jones on both occasions.

Two minutes into the second half, it looked as though Richard Beckett had found the equaliser when he tapped in Harrington's corner but the referee had decreed Bascombe's jump in front of the keeper was obstruction.

A glancing header from Blackett went just wide and Harrington's free-kick clattered the bar in an excellent second-half performance.

They were not rewarded until the 90th minute when Wootton's Neal Bedeau was adjudged to have handled Harrington's cross. Harrington took the responsibility himself and claimed a fully deserved point by hammering the penalty into the bottom corner.

Rokermen: Blower, Daley, Chapman, Frater, Gonzague, Beckett (Potter 76), Benton, McElroy, Blackett, Bascombe, Harrington.

Langford was beaten 3-1 at high-flying Harefield, Robert Groves scoring a consolation when they were already three goals behind.

Arlesey Athletic won 2-0 at struggling Cranfield United thanks to goals from Ian Thorne and Wayne Blows.
