Biggleswade have reached the Heritage Cup final this week.

A devastating spell from Matt Twigg turned the semi-final on its head at Waresley on Monday evening.

Although losing two early wickets, opponents Potton were going along at nearly 10 an over until Twigg (4-20) was brought into the attack for the seventh over.

Four wickets in seven balls saw Potton collapse from 56-2 to 66-6 and they eventually reached 102-7.

In response, the Potton attack failed to make the most of a helpful wicket and Jimmy Hart (43no) batted extremely well to guide them to yet another Heritage Cup final appearance.

Biggleswade won by nine wickets and await the winners of Ickwell versus Ampthill who play at Henlow this Monday evening.

Two centuries in an evening game is a rare occurrence indeed but it happened as Biggleswade went down by nine wickets to Ickwell in the East Beds Senior Shield quarter-final on Friday.

Biggleswade thought they had the game sown up after Kevin Wright's 102no off 57 balls helped them post 160-6.

Former Biggleswade player Jon Cole-Edwardes, who had already taken three wickets, had a point to prove and scored 101no off 43 balls in response to guide Ickwell to a nine-wicket win with more than four overs remaining.

There was a return to winning ways in the Beds Premier League as they enjoyed a crushing win over Ampthill on Sunday at Fairfield.

Hart, batting at four, continued his excellent form of late by smashing 72 off 66 balls. James Peacock (39) and Twigg (53no) supported Hart as Biggleswade posted an excellent total of 252-8.

Biggleswade caught well as the Ampthill batsmen took the aerial route, the highlight being a one-handed full length diving catch from Harmit Bahra at backward point.

Peacock was introduced into the attack in the 25th over and proceeded to polish off the Ampthill innings for just 148 with 4-30 from six overs.

The win moved Biggleswade up to sixth in the table, just seven points off third placed Ickwell. This week Biggleswade travel to Toddington Manor to take on Vauxhall Motors.

A maiden century from Andy Eames could not prevent their seconds losing at Caldecote in Division Three.

Eames hit 18 fours and two sixes on his way to 115 but he failed to find much support from his team-mates as Biggleswade totalled 178 all out.

Caldecote ran out winners by seven wickets with fully eight overs remaining.

Biggleswade were outclassed on a hot Saturday afternoon by New City in the Millman One.

The visitors from Milton Keynes smashed 268-9 in their 45 overs.

In response, Biggleswade were never in the hunt and rolled over for 93 all out. Bruce Ditchum and Sam Hiscock made it look better, putting on 33 for the seventh wicket, as New City ran out winners by a massive 175 runs.
