Stotfold languish second from bottom in the UCL Premier Division after losing 3-1 at home to Blackstones.

It is not all doom and gloom though as Mark Teeling's young side produced an encouraging second 45 minutes on Saturday, while striker Adam Furness received the league's top goalscorer award for October.

Blackstones' opening goal came in the seventh minute when Richard Thompson looped his header over Tony Harvey who could only palm it on to the bar and then into the net.

What seemed like a clash of legs between two players led to a Blackstones free-kick and their second goal after 25 minutes, Kevin Anslie firing the free-kick past the wall.

Richard Jones had three headed chances to put the game well out of reach, hitting Harvey's chest and the bar twice in the space of 15 minutes.

The second half saw a better Stotfold performance but not until after the visitors got their third as Phil Stebbing flicked home a low ball into the box on 58 minutes.

Ian Thorne fired over the bar after being teed up by Joe Philbin before Louis Lee, on his Stotfold debut, ran into the box and fired into the roof of the net midway through the half.

Furness - fresh from receiving his award just before kick off - managed to miss two good chances, while Thorne had a goal disallowed for offside.

Rokermen: Harvey, Alcide, Philbin, Mitchell (Rennie 46m) Geraghty, Taylor, Nichol, Lee, Furness, Thorne, Downham (Donnelly 46m).

Langford won 2-0 at Forde Park in their first competitive match ever against Chalfont St Peter.

Two first-half goals from top scorers Robert Groves and Lee Pateman saw them extend their run to four league games without defeat.

Ricky Case, signed from Enfield, made his debut and released Groves to open the scoring after 20 minutes.

Case also provided the cross for Pateman to score the Langford second 10 minutes later.

Arlesey Athletic went down 6-2 at Harpenden as their hosts leapfrogged them in the table.

Danny Lane ensured the teams went in level at the break but it was 4-1 by the time Wayne Blows scored the second for Athletic and Harpenden went on to grab two more.
