Letchworth badminton star Leona Lee has not been taking it easy during the summer holidays.

The 17-year-old shuttler spent 12 days in Serbia competing against the best players in Europe at the 2022 European Junior Championships.

In the team event England was beaten by Denmark in the quarter-final, the Scandinavian country going on to win the title.

Lee also reached the last eight of the individual event while her journey in the doubles ended in the round of 32.

The Hitchin Girls' School pupil then carried her good form by clinching silver at the U19 Polish Open held in Gniezno.

Lee said: "I was hugely disappointed not to win a medal in the European Junior Championships to guarantee my place for the World Junior Champs.

"The Poland Open was the last tournament for the selections and I am so happy I won silver to get picked."
