ONE of the men entrusted to retain the Ashes this winter will be at Letchworth Cricket Club tomorrow (Friday).

England's Ashley Giles, Warwickshire's 2006 beneficiary, will bring seven of his county colleagues to take part in a pro-am seven-a-side tournament at Whitethorn Lane played for The Comet Trophy.

Letchworth's annual benefit day is being staged later than usual this year and the club are hopeful that the weather will be good, enabling them to finish a successful season in style.

Among those accompanying Giles will be former England player Nick Knight, along with Neil Carter, Jonathan Trott, Ian Westwood, James Anyon and Moeen Ali.

Play starts at 10am with the final due to be around 6pm. Ground entrance is £3 (£1.50 concessions) and there is a public bar and barbecue, plus an auction of Ashley Giles memorabilia and a raffle.
