The Blues saw a lot of the ball in the first 15 minutes and it was a bit against the flow of the game that Cambridge took the lead.
A deep cross came in from the left and it looked liked over-running beyond the far post but Craig Pope had other ideas.
In the second half, Arlesey made most of the running, although chances on goal were few.
They hit the bar and fired the rebound into the side netting halfway through the second period.
Cambridge scored their second goal from another deep cross, old boy Darren Lynch heading into the far corner.
