Joylyn Saunders-Mullins won a hat-trick of silver medals for Great Britain in the European Veteran Championships in Poznan, Poland.

The veteran athlete from Letchworth Garden City was competing in the women's 50 to 54 age group.

Her three silvers came in the 200m, 400m and 4x400m relay.

A season's best of 62.67 was not enough to win the 400m as she was beaten by two-hundredths of a second for first place.

Another season's best of 27.78 came in the 200m where she was beaten by only one-hundredth of a second.

In both these races Joylyn was only second to former Olympian Dagmar Fuhrmann of Germany.

Her third silver came in the W45 4x400m relay, where Joylyn took the British team into the lead with a first leg time of 60.07, smashing her previous personal best by an incredible 2.6 seconds.

Joylyn said: "I was in the best shape I have been in a long time.

"Thanks to my coach and husband Tim for putting me through my paces during the winter months and making me believe I could do it.

"For the first time in three years I am running injury free and feeling stronger as each race I have."

As well as husband Tim, Joylyn also thanked MFK Group of Stevenage, Altro Floors of Letchworth and Herts County Council for supporting her in the championships.
