Veteran race walker Arthur Thomson won a gold medal for the 10k walk in the World Masters Championships in Linz, Austria, in the 65-69 age group.
Arthur, who will be 70 this month, is often seen pounding the roads and the Greenway in Letchworth GC.
He delivered a fine performance to beat all the younger men in his age group in an amazing time of 54:46.26. In fact, he beat the 60 to 64-year-olds too!
Arthur also won silver in the 3k indoor track race in his age group in Linz a few days before, being just pipped at the post by the younger Austrian walker who he went on to beat in the 10k event.
He will be competing in Poland in July in the European Masters Stadia Championships in the 5k track and 20k road events.
Arthur is shown on the podium (below centre) with his gold medal.
