Reece Hannam has become the first movement from Stevenage on deadline day - after he and the club agreed to terminate his contract.

The left-back arrived on a free transfer in the summer after being on trial throughout pre-season.

He was unable to force his way into selection though and his final appearance for the club was in the Herts Senior Cup tie at Potters Bar Town.

The club statement said: "We can announce that Reece Hannam’s contract has been mutually terminated.

"The 23-year-old made seven appearances for Boro during his time at The Lamex Stadium and now leaves to pursue an opportunity elsewhere.

"We thank Reece and wish him the best of luck in this next stage of his career."

Manager Steve Evans had earlier revealed that Hannam's departure was the most likely today.

The boss said: "Young Reece Hannam may leave the club today and he's got a couple of opportunities to pursue, particularly one overseas and one from lower down the pyramid.

"I've left Leon Hunter in discussions with Reece and his people and if he's here beyond the deadline, that's fine.

"He's got himself fully fit now and he's ready to go, so that's good."
