David Hicks will remember January 26 as a hugely important date in his football career - after he signed a first professional deal with Stevenage.

The midfielder was part of the first-team squad in pre-season and made his debut in the EFL Trophy match against Crystal Palace in November.

Speaking on Twitter, the player said: "Proud moment for me and my family to have signed my first professional contract with Stevenage.

"The hard work starts now."

His first act as a professional though will be elsewhere, although it is hardly at unfamiliar surroundings.

He has been sent out on loan again and back to Potters Bar Town where he spent a month in October.

He made a big impression at the Lantern Stadium, making six appearances and scoring twice - against Cray Wanderers and Wingate & Finchley.

He also won the Scholars' player of the month award and they have been keen on having him back to help with his development and experience ever since.

This stay will be for another 28 days initially.

The Isthmian League Premier Division side have also taken Boro team-mate Louis Henry on loan as well as signing Northwood's Shane Cojocarel.
